Operations Manager

– 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience

Responsibilities

– Oversee and manage the overall operations of the freight forwarding department, ensuring efficient and smooth execution of shipments.
– Supervise and provide guidance to the operations team, including freight coordinators, customs officers, and warehouse staff.
– Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand client requirements and ensure timely and accurate delivery of shipments.
– Develop and implement operational procedures and workflows to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
– Manage relationships with shipping lines, airlines, vendors, and agents to secure competitive rates and maintain service level agreements.
– Monitor and track cargo movements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, customs clearance, and documentation requirements.
– Resolve operational issues and address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
– Conduct regular performance reviews of staff, identifying training needs and providing coaching and development opportunities.
– Manage and monitor key operational performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, cost control, and quality of service.
– Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements, implementing relevant changes and improvements to operations.

Required Skills

– Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
– Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding processes, customs regulations, and documentation requirements.
– Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage employees.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
– Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS), ERP software, and other relevant operational tools.
– Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify process improvements and address operational challenges.
– Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
– Sound understanding of cost control measures and the ability to optimize operational expenses.
– Ability to adapt and respond to changing market dynamics and customer demands.
– Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to freight forwarding operations.
